The U.S. Space Force is implementing new ground-based jamming systems called Remote Modular Terminals (RMTs), which are designed to disrupt enemy satellite communications. These devices work by emitting powerful interference signals, essentially "yelling in the enemy's ear," as described by Kelly Hammett, the Space Rapid Capabilities Office Director.

A noteworthy aspect of this project is the use of shipping containers to house and transport the RMTs. The containers provide a mobile, durable, and modular solution, allowing the systems to be easily deployed to various locations while ensuring the equipment's security and operational readiness. This approach highlights the versatility of shipping containers in military and high-tech applications, demonstrating their role as a critical infrastructure component.

Initially, 11 RMT units are being fielded, with plans to expand to over 150 systems. Each unit, costing approximately $1.5 million, is compact and can be remotely operated to minimize personnel risk and maximize deployment flexibility. The RMTs' strategic distribution aims to create expansive interference zones, countering enemy surveillance capabilities and safeguarding U.S. military operations.

This initiative reflects the Space Force's broader strategy of integrating ground-based systems and innovative infrastructure, such as shipping containers, to enhance operational effectiveness.
