Transforming Standard Shipping Containers for the U.S. Navy: A Versatile Office & Workshop Solution

​At W&K Container, Inc., we take pride in delivering innovative and functional shipping container modifications that meet the diverse needs of our clients. Recently, we had the honor of working on a project for the U.S. Navy, transforming six 20-foot standard shipping containers into fully equipped office/workshop spaces. This project underscores the versatility of shipping containers and how they can be adapted to serve crucial operational needs.

Innovation in Action: A Custom Office/Workshop Solution

Shipping containers have long been valued for their strength, mobility, and adaptability. In this project, the U.S. Navy required a durable and efficient workspace that could withstand various operational environments while providing functionality and comfort. Our modifications included:

• Framing & Insulation: Each container was framed and insulated with R-13 insulation, ensuring temperature control and energy efficiency.
• Electrical Package: We installed an interior panel with a complete electrical setup, including: 2 LED lights for optimal illumination, 2 four-plex outlets and 1 single outlet for power needs, an external safety switch for added protection and all necessary wiring and electrical boxes
• Interior Finishing: The walls and ceiling were painted in semi-gloss white, creating a clean and professional workspace.
• Custom Cabinet Installation: Per the customer's specifications, we installed Vidmar cabinets, ensuring organized storage solutions.
• Climate Control: To ensure year-round comfort, we installed a Friedrich KEQ08A11-A AC/Heat unit, providing a climate-controlled environment suited for various working conditions.
• Exterior Customization: The exterior of each container was prepped and painted in red, matching the required specifications and ensuring a professional and cohesive appearance.
